Calgary-based CPKC railway pursues the Corredor Interoceánico megaproject in Mexico: PBI

Peace Brigades International (PBI) participated in a human rights mission that recorded human rights violations related to the Corredor Interoceánico del Istmo de Tehuantepec (CIIT), in Oaxaca, Mexico. “As Calgary-based CPKC is involved in the CIIT, we remain attentive”, writes PBI Canada on Twitter.

The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) company, rebranded as Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) this past April, is involved in a megaproject variously called the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, the Trans-Isthmus Corridor, and the Tehuantepec isthmus rail corridor. In July 2023, the Peace Brigades International-Mexico Project participated in a Civilian Observation Mission on the CIIT. “We continue to follow this with concern”, insists PBI.
