Oaxaca
state presents enormous social contradictions. The population,
predominantly indigenous people, endures a historical
poverty and marginalization. Misery and migration combined
with social, political and economic exclusion combine
to batter down Oaxacan villages. These negative pressures
arise from neoliberal and local political policies which
do not promote rural community development nor do they
offer any substantial support to Oaxaca’s rural
inhabitants.
