EDUCA
employs a specific method in all we do in
order to achieve the outcomes we seek. Methodology
is the “how”. For example, universities
employ methods of approaches to their professors
and students in order to create flexible and
innovative environments for learning. Auto
manufacturers use very different methods in
working with their employees to mass produce
automobiles according to uniform specifications.
These methods are not interchangeable as they
pertain to very specific circumstances and
desired results.
Educa’s
methodology aims to bring about a balanced
participation by all elements of Oaxacan
society and also full participation by men
and women. Both genders and all ethnic groupings
possess the right to full political and
social participation.
1)
EDUCA always begins a with thorough STUDY
OF THE SOCIAL CONTEXT. Just as business
people begin with a thorough market analysis,
so also EDUCA begins with an analysis of
the social context to gain an accurate sense
of the economic, social, political and economic
dynamics within the indigenous communities
and municipalities where we carry out our
work. This permits us to achieve optimum
impact.
2)
A second stage to our methodology involves
a decision regarding the strategies of training
content and approach. We call this our EDUCATIONAL
STRATEGY. Each approach involves a tailored
set of formative and participative dynamics
supported by resource materials. Educa pursues
two broad categories of educational strategy.
We employ one strategy with recognized community
leaders and use another general strategy
to generate broad based social and political
activity.
3)
We term the third stage of our methodology
the PROPOSAL stage. Concrete actions transform
the social, political and cultural reality.
Political action should also include efforts
to build gender equity and social inclusion.
The PROPOSAL stage comprises the creation
of planned actions best suited to bring
about desired changes within a specific
social situation consonant with resources
on hand. |
