The Building Citizenship Program currently implements three projects:

1) Building Citizenship and Sustainable Government in the Municipalities of Oaxaca.
2) Building Indigenous Citizenship and Local Power in Oaxaca.
3) Processes of Community Participation to Defend and Demand Political Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

 
 
Building Citizenship - Lines of action:
 
 
1) Build citizenship and political sustainability indigenous Municipal Districts of Oaxaca.
 
 
2) Develop Indigenous Citizenship and Local Power in Oaxaca.
 
 
3) Generate community participation for the defense of and demand for political rights of Indigenous peoples in Oaxaca
 
 
Building Citizenship Activities:
 
 
a) Permanent networking of key municipal players through dialogue and interchange with different organized sectors at a local level.
 
 
b) Ongoing contextual analysis permitting focused and realistic political proposals.
 
 
c) Lobbying with political figures from the local level up to higher elected authorities.
 
 
d) Create spaces for dialogue, discussion and analysis in relation to the future of municipal districts’ community practices and the development of democracy in the state of Oaxaca.
 
 
e) Electoral observation in municipal districts governed by indigenous traditions called Uses and Customs. This electoral observation directly reduces acts of violence.
 
 
f) Research and Documentation of Municipal Conflicts
 
 
g) Workshops in Participation, Citizenship and the Electoral Process.
 
 
h) Seminars and Public Forums exploring the theme of Uses and Customs.
