ACHIEVEMENTS
After years of work the Building Citizenship
Program has made notable contributions to
promoting basic citizen participation in
numerous Oaxacan municipalities and also
at the state level. Our achievements include:
a)
Proposed reform to the Electoral Law (Book
Four, Political Institutions and Electoral
Procedures, Code of Oaxaca) This proposed
reform would reduce political, electoral,
and post-electoral conflicts.
b)
Creation of the website, Uses
and Customs. Now being updated.
c)
Established credibility as electoral observers
in municipalities governed by normative
internal systems.
d)
Have created new approaches to politicas
characterized by participative and inclusive
methods oriented to deeping democracy and
applying the legal norms of Uses and
Customs in indigenous communities.
